Hello and Housekeeping.

Hey kids,

I’ve realized that it’s time to make some changes. I want this new blog to be more focused and streamlined, rather than just a platform for my random thoughts. Most of the tools and tricks I use in my work can be found at Dollar Tree, and I’ll be sharing affiliate links on this blog. If you click on a link and make a purchase, I’ll earn a commission. WP manages the ads on the side.

I want to clarify that the use of affiliate links may result in a cookie being placed on your computer, but it’s not for monitoring your behavior. The cookie simply ensures that I get paid if I refer you to a product or service. Rest assured, it won’t cost you anything extra.

As a dad, a former goth kid, and a lover of occult literature, I’m all about embracing creativity and dropping out of the rat race to focus on art. I want to be that eccentric old man wandering the forest and sharing wisdom from other worlds.

So, without further ado, here are ten things that every aspiring artist needs, in no particular order:

1) Purpose: Find your reason for creating art, whether it’s to change the world or simply to express yourself.

2) Supplies: Stock up on basic art supplies without breaking the bank. I always grab notebooks and pens from Dollar Tree, and I’m considering getting an old travel typewriter and some candles for my workspace.

3) Peace: Embrace a mindset of peace and determination. Decide what you want to achieve and stay focused on your path.

4) Sacred Space: Create a dedicated workspace for your art, whether it’s a desk, a corner of a room, or a special spot in nature.

5) Coffee Maker: If you’re a coffee lover like me, having a coffee maker nearby can be a great focus hack.

6) Music: Use music to inspire your creativity. Whether it’s Spotify, a record player, or something else, find what works for you.

7) Scents: Consider using scents or aromas to create a conducive environment for your creativity.

8) Artifacts: Surround yourself with items that inspire you, whether it’s books, paintings, or other pieces of art.

9) A plan: Although my operations may appear erratic from the outside, they are by design. I plan for chaos because strictly adhering to a plan has caused issues in the past. Instead of a step-by-step plan, I foster a mindset of not quitting and confidence in handling the situation.

10) Distribution: The simplest version of this step is an internet connection. Since I plan on logging off for good at home one day, I’ve already tagged all the local places with free Wi-Fi so I can upload my content later. If I were involved with more visual art, I would get a camera for this step to get my products on Etsy or eBay.

I wish y’all good luck, and I’ll be here for advice if you need me.

DK
